In a concerted effort to continuously and actively promote the development of Swinburne College of SDUST and to enhance students' understanding of Swinburne University of Technology (SUT), as well as to familiarize them with overseas study and living environments, SDUST, in collaboration with SUT in Australia, organized the 2025 Winter Vacation Academic and Cultural Study Tour at SUT. The 14-day study tour successfully concluded on January 24, 2025, with two leading teachers and twenty-five students returning home laden with fruitful experiences.
SUT attached great importance to this study tour and held a welcome ceremony for the study tour group on January 13, 2025. Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Douglas Proctor delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to the study tour group. He provided the students with a detailed introduction to the fundamental aspects of SUT and the progress of the collaborative programs between the two institutions, wishing the study tour a complete success.
The study tour was tightly scheduled and brimming with a variety of activities. SUT organized over 10 lecture sessions, encompassing language and cultural studies, academic lectures, and career planning guidance. The itinerary included both observational practices and cultural exchanges, as well as concentrated learning periods and group discussions. Students honed and enhanced their abilities in spoken English expression, English business negotiation, resume writing, and employment interview skills.
Through visits to SUT's campus, the Factory of the Future, the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Centre and other laboratories, students gained a more intuitive understanding of the educational environment and experimental facilities at SUT. They also toured a series of cultural and artistic venues such as the National Gallery of Victoria Australia and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), immersing themselves in the traditional history and cultural life of Australia. Their interactive sessions with international students at Swinburne not only enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills but also fostered deep friendships.
