On September 29, a delegation of five Australian returned scholars, including Yu Changbin (tenured professor at the Australian National University) and Su Weidong (tenured professor at the University of Technology Sydney), visited Jinan Campus for an exchange and tour. The meeting was attended by Liang Saijiang, Executive Deputy Secretary of the campus's Party Committee, Guo Jiashu, Executive Deputy Director of the Management Committee, Liu Xikui and Liu Guodong, Deputy Directors of the Management Committee, and Yun Bingbing, Deputy Director of Humanities and Social Sciences Division of the university. National-level talents such as Professor Lin Zhiyun from the Southern University of Science and Technology, Distinguished Professor Liu Qingchen from the University of Science and Technology of China, and Researcher Sun Zhiyong from Peking University attended online.
Liang Saijiang extended a warm welcome to Yu Changbin, Su Weidong and their delegation, and provided an overview of Jinan Campus's development history, school-running characteristics, cooperative exchanges, faculty composition and student cultivation. He emphasized that Sino-foreign Cooperative Education naturally fosters international educational and technological collaboration, and expressed hope that the Australian returned scholars would serve as ambassadors of exchanges, aiding SDUST in attracting high-level talents, enhancing international scientific and technological exchanges, and deepening the substantive development of Sino-foreign Cooperative Education. Liu Xikui introduced the campus's scientific and technological initiatives and the preparatory status of the Sino-Australian Joint Research Institute for Intelligent Manufacturing. He expressed hope that both parties would actively seek common ground for development, identify key areas for collaboration, and engage in close cooperation in academic exchanges, joint scientific research endeavors, and postgraduate education. The visiting scholars briefly introduced their personal scientific research and experiences of studying and working in Australia. They offered suggestions and recommendations for the development of the Sino-Australian Joint Research Institute for Intelligent Manufacturing, and expressed a desire to strengthen communication and exchanges between both parties, aiming to engage in pragmatic cooperation in areas such as joint postgraduate education, collaborative establishment of the research institute, and joint applications for research projects. This collaboration seeks to achieve mutual benefits and shared development.
After the meeting, Liang Saijiang, Guo Jiashu and other leaders accompanied the visitors on a tour of the campus's international educational environment, the "SDUST's Alumni" Reception Hall in Jinan, the laboratories, the Library, the Arts& Sports Building, and other facilities.
