To further showcase its achievements in international education and strengthen communication with stakeholders and prospective students' families, Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST) held its 2025 Open Day for Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education at the Jinan Campus on June 29. Attendees included Liang Saijiang, Party Secretary of the Jinan Campus; Guo Jiashu, Director of the Jinan Campus; representatives from relevant faculties of Swinburne University of Technology (SUT), Australia; as well as heads of relevant departments and faculty members from the campus.
In his address, Guo Jiashu introduced the SDUST's long-standing educational history, solid disciplinary foundation, and strategic layout for international education. He particularly highlighted the unique advantages and outstanding achievements of the Sino-foreign cooperative education in cultivating high-quality, interdisciplinary talents with global perspectives, international rule literacy, and cross-cultural communication competencies. Douglas Proctor, Pro Vice-Chancellor of SUT, delivered a video message detailing SUT's profile. Subsequently, Vali Ratanavali, Deputy Director of Transnational Education Partnerships; A/Prof. Rifai Chai, Academic Director of the School of Engineering; and Dr. Vito Burtardo, Senior Lecturer and Academic Director of Collaborative Programs at the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies from SUT, along with Associate Professor Yang Jinliang (Communication Engineering), Professor Pu Haitao (Electrical Engineering and Automation), Li Hongyu (Finance), and Associate Professor Yuan Qingwen (Digital Business Micro-program) from SDUST's Jinan Campus, provided comprehensive introductions to their respective collaborative programs. Through detailed PowerPoint presentations and engaging explanations, they elaborated on the programs' distinctive features, cultivation models, curriculum structures, faculty strengths, degree conferrals, and further education/employment prospects. The informative presentations painted a clear academic development roadmap for prospective students and their parents.
During the introduction session, Fan Mingfang, Deputy Dean of Swinburne College, Zhu Qigang, Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, and Associate Professor Tang Wei from the Finance major engaged in on-site Q&A interactions, addressing questions of concern to prospective students and parents. At the consultation zone, program directors, faculty members, and outstanding student representatives provided detailed and patient responses to inquiries regarding admission policies, entry requirements, tuition fees, language proficiency requirements, overseas study transition and campus life.
The event featured a vibrant atmosphere with enthusiastic participation. Admissions brochures were distributed, while display boards showcasing students who pursued further studies abroad and outstanding graduates were exhibited alongside promotional videos. These materials effectively highlighted the achievements of the Sino-foreign cooperative education, the learning and living environment, as well as the distinctive strengths of each program. Some attendees also toured teaching buildings, the library, laboratories, sports facilities, dormitories and dining halls to experience first-hand the internationalized learning and living environment.
The Open Day event was conducted in dual formats, combining online livestreaming with on-site activities. The livestreaming component attracted significant attention, amassing over 4,000 cumulative viewers among prospective students and parents.
