As the graduation songs marked the end of an era and the beginning of new journeys, the Jinan Campus held its 2025 Graduation Ceremony in the Sports & Arts Center on the morning of June 27. Attendees seated on the rostrum included: Wang Junsong, Party Secretary of Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST); Hu Min'an, Deputy Secretary of Tianqiao District Party Committee, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Acting District Mayor of the Tianqiao District People's Government; Zeng Qingtian, Deputy Party Secretary and President of SDUST; Li Shengli, Standing Committee Member of Tianqiao District Party Committee and Director of Organization Department; Zhuge Fumin and Dong Hairong, Standing Committee Members of SDUST's Party Committee and Vice Presidents; Dong Guigang, Director of the Party Committee Office (SDUST's Office); Liang Saijiang, Party Secretary of the Jinan Campus; and Guo Jiashu, Director of the Jinan Campus. Also present were leaders from relevant departments of the Jinan Campus, faculty representatives, parent representatives, alumni representatives, faculty representatives, students' union cadres, and the class of 2025 graduates. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Zhuge Fumin.
The graduation ceremony commenced solemnly with the resounding national anthem of the People's Republic of China. Wang Junsong presented certificates to outstanding volunteers of the "Go West" program and graduates enlisted for military services. Dong Hairong announced the lists of outstanding graduates, distinguished volunteers of the "Go West" program, graduates enlisted in the military, alumni information liaisons, and recipients of the "Most Memorable Mentor" award. Attending leaders then presented certificates to representatives of outstanding graduates, awarded certificates to graduating student representatives, issued letters of appointment to alumni liaison representatives, and conferred honorary certificates to "Most Memorable Mentor" recipients.
Zeng Qingtian delivered "The Last Lecture" to graduates with theme "Setting Sail 2025: A Decade's Promise". On behalf of SDUST, President Zeng extended warm congratulations and best wishes to all undergraduate graduates of the class of 2025 for their successful completion of studies. He expressed high respect and heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, parents, and relatives who had accompanied the graduates throughout their growth, as well as sincere welcome and cordial greetings to the alumni attending the ceremony. With deep emotion, President Zeng reviewed the students' four-year journey and cherished memories at SDUST. He noted that from 2021 to 2025, the graduates had stood together with SDUST through challenges and triumphs, leaving indelible marks in the annals of their alma mater. Looking ahead, President Zeng encouraged the graduates to take their current achievements as a starting point and envision the next decade. He emphasized aligning personal aspirations with the nation's grand blueprint of basically achieving socialist modernization in the next decade, while closely intertwining their endeavors with SDUST's goal of becoming a world-class applied research university. Together, he urged, they should compose a brilliant chapter in strengthening the nation and advancing SDUST's excellence.
To the graduates embarking on new journeys, President Zeng Qingtian articulated earnest expectations through the "Decade's Promise" framework. He urged them first to anchor their course by becoming trailblazers with strategic vision-keeping the nation's overarching priorities at heart, cultivating profound patriotism, aligning personal aspirations with China's modernization and national rejuvenation, while honing genuine capabilities through answering the era's call. Second, he encouraged them to brave the waves as tenacious problem-solvers, upholding SDUST's spirit of indomitable perseverance to confront difficulties with rock-solid determination and meet challenges with advancing-against-odds courage. Third, he advised them to hoist their sails as pioneering innovators, living SDUST's motto "Seeking Truth and Innovation" by sustaining intellectual curiosity to explore uncharted territories with groundbreaking ideas. Finally, he emphasized navigating with virtue as moral exemplars-anchoring to ethical compasses amid societal complexities, discerning truth while nurturing kindness, thus strengthening moral foundations for lifelong upright conduct.
With deep affection, President Zeng Qingtian addressed all graduates, assuring them that regardless of where their journeys take them, their alma mater would always follow their future courses. He expressed his hope that through their decade of striving, the graduates would present a splendid answer sheet worthy of their youth-to their motherland, to the times, to SDUST, to their teachers, parents, and to themselves. May they hoist their sails and brave the waves, courageously embarking on new voyages to pursue their starry dreams, riding the tides and advancing unswervingly towards the glorious "Decade's Promise" of 2035.
Hu Min'an, in his address on behalf of the Tianqiao District Party Committee and Tianqiao District People's Government, extended sincere blessings to the graduates about to embark on life's new journey. He detailed Tianqiao District's industrial foundation, entrepreneurial resources, and development environment, emphasizing the district's commitment to creating optimal conditions for talent cultivation, attraction, and utilization. The district will continuously improve its full-chain employment service system to provide graduates with the most convenient and thoughtful career services, warmly inviting them to build their futures in Tianqiao.
Nick Slade, Deputy PVC International and External Affairs of the University of Worcester, the partner institution, delivered a video message offering enthusiastic congratulations to the graduating class. He spoke highly of the achievements in cultivating international talents and wished the graduates outstanding success in their future professional endeavors.
Graduate representative Liu Bohan delivered a speech sharing his growth and achievements at SDUST, expressing profound gratitude and best wishes to his alma mater, while vowing to dedicate his youth to the motherland. Alumni representative Song Dehong nostalgically recalled his formative years at SDUST, offering sincere thanks for its nurturing environment, and encouraged graduates to uphold the virtues of perseverance and innovation, striving to become exemplary youth with craftsman spirit in the new era. Faculty representative Jiang Shuai reminisced about the memorable years of mutual growth with students, urging them to always maintain patriotic fervor, an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and continuously broaden their horizons to enhance comprehensive competencies. He encouraged graduates to face challenges with optimism and write even more brilliant life chapters.
The class of 2025 solemnly pledged before the national flag. As farewell songs filled the air, attending leaders and faculty rose in standing ovation to see off the graduates, waving goodbye with heartfelt blessings.
Prior to the ceremony, the leaders visited the exhibition halls on the first floor of the Sports & Arts Center, which showcased the educational achievements of both SDUST and the Jinan Campus, and the inaugural graduation design exhibition "Realm of Future" by the Industrial Design program.
