On May 8, our university and the University of Tasmania, Australia co-hosted a virtual meeting of the 2023 Joint Program Management Committee, attended by Xu Longfei, Vice President of Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee, and Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Ji’nan Campus, Rob Wilson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Tasmania, Stephen Connelly, Vice President of AEMG Education Group, all members of the Joint Program Management Committee, and leaders of relevant functional departments of both Universities.
In his speech, Xu Longfei extended a warm welcome to all participants joining the virtual meeting to discuss the program’s development. He highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of Shandong University of Science and Technology in the past year, including the development of world-class academic disciplines, nurturing top-tier talent, groundbreaking scientific research endeavors, and internationalization of education. He also introduced the streamlining of the administrative framework of Ji’nan Campus and significant progress made by the campus in establishing its “Three Major Functional Zones”. Expressing his strong desire for both parties to enhance communication and collaboration, Xu Longfei emphasized the importance of leveraging more resources and creating a broader platform for further advancement.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Rob commended the longstanding and fruitful partnership with Shandong University of Science and Technology and highlighted the recent remarkable accomplishments of the University of Tasmania.
The meeting received a report from Shi Zhou, Deputy Director of Management Committee of Ji’ nan Campus, regarding the implementation of the resolutions of the previous meeting. Zhu Qigang, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Department, presented a program work report on teaching administration, student affairs, student development, and accomplishments. Tim Finnigan, Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Tasmania, delivered feedback on the status of foreign teachers “classes and students” learning in the program. He expressed his full affirmation of the outstanding achievements by our students abroad and remained highly confident in the program’ s collaboration.
The meeting finalized the membership changes for the new Joint Program Management Committee, commended the accomplishments of 2023, examined the challenges and devised the solutions, and aligned on the strategic direction for 2024.
